How mobile and iBeacons are driving ROI in wholesale
Bestway is the largest independent Cash & Carry wholesaler in the UK, with 60+ depots across England, Scotland and Wales trading under the Bestway and Batleys names. With an increasing number of their customers using mobile in their businesses, they needed a way to maximise on this opportunity to drive sales whilst creating actionable insight through data.
We built a native app allowing users to browse a Bestway catalogue of up to 20,000 products and place orders directly from their mobile device. It also has a whole host of additional features to ensure it becomes an integral part of the user’s working day such as a barcode scanner, previous order history, secure payment facility and a real-time depot inventory.
But the real innovation was introducing geofences and iBeacons to deliver personalised push notifications through RNF’s unique BEAM platform, allowing Bestway to communicate with its customers in a contextual and relevant way. The Beam platform also delivers significant insight such as store heat maps, customer dwell times and individual customer journeys.
It was the largest deployment of iBeacons in the UK.
Over 70% of the products featured on iBeacons have seen a significant increase in sales versus the previous period.
There have been over 4 million interactions since launch, an average of 333,333 per month.
The app has been downloaded just over 25,000 times.
Net sales from the app during 2015 averaged £2 million per month.
