The Bridgestone “Challenge App” is an industry first enterprise app. Designed for Apples iPad it enables Bridgestone Truck & Bus sales teams to accurately measure the Pence Per Kilometre (PPK) performance of Bridgestone’s truck and bus tyres.
Like most tyre manufacturers, Bridgestone’s previous approach to proving the PPK performance of its tyres was to record fitments of new tyres on a spreadsheet or database, then updating this with remaining tread depth readings throughout the tyre’s life. Whilst this method was relatively simple, it meant that the sales team would have to duplicate their efforts by capturing the readings on paper, then transferring the information when they were back online or in the office. It also meant that reports had to be produced in advance of visiting a fleet.
The resulting enterprise app enables users to do this by adding vehicles and applying tyre observations periodically. Over time the app will predict tyre performance and calculate the PPK. The architecture RNF deployed enables the iPads to synchronise their data to central servers, thus allowing each users iPad to access data being collated by all users. The result being that users can now conduct real time performance analyses against any tyre data contained within the application.
“Working with the RNF team on this project has been a real pleasure, they are highly professional and easy to work with and at the forefront of mobile innovation.” Andy Mathias – Product and Marketing Manager, Bridgestone Tyres.
