I spent a fascinating day yesterday at the FWD annual conference which this year was entitled Next Generation Wholesale: Trends, Technology and Talent for the 2020s.
As a tech provider to the sector, it was great to see how far things have come since we launched the first ever ordering app for our client Bestway Wholesale back in 2014. Through a number of polls run throughout the day I was encouraged to find that 43% of delegates believed that online sales platforms are the biggest opportunity for their businesses and that 35% will be investing in technology over the coming 12 months.
Backing this up were presentations from the likes of Richard Fletcher from Foodservice Online who said “Wholesalers no longer need warehouses, products and vehicles to grow their businesses. They need technology, interconnectivity and platforms.”, TWC’s Tanya Pepin stating that “It’s important to be digitally enabled to move quickly to stay fit for future.” and
Darren Goldney from Unitas who talked about the importance of digital communication to grow engagement with their customer base.
This is where our Beam Commerce digital sales and marketing platform comes in. By creating an accessible solution for wholesalers of all sizes (sign-up costs start from as little as £5,000) we’re opening up this important channel. Our platform combines a best-in-class ordering app that works across mobile, tablet and desktop with our award-winning customer engagement platform. This means that wholesalers can not only offer online ordering to their customers across whichever device their customer wants to use, but importantly can communicate with those customers via push notifications and sell advertising space to their suppliers. This in turn delivers more engaged customers, increased sales and a new revenue stream – music to any wholesalers ears.
With eCommerce in wholesale set to grow by 50% by 2022 it is critical that wholesalers choose the right partner to help navigate the digital landscape. Our unrivalled experience in the sector makes us ideally positioned to help wholesalers on this journey and to ultimately improve their bottom line. If you’d like a chat about just that, please do get in touch.
